You don't need a workshop to keep your car in good shape — a handful of simple checks, done consistently, go a long way toward preventing bigger repairs later. Here are seven tasks any owner can handle at home.
1. Check Your Tyre Pressure
Under-inflated tyres wear unevenly, hurt fuel economy and increase stopping distance. Check pressure monthly with a simple gauge while tyres are cold, and always check before a long trip.
2. Inspect Tyre Tread
Bald or uneven tread is a safety risk, especially in the rain. A quick visual check for cracking, bulges or embedded objects can catch a problem before it becomes a blowout.
3. Top Up Windshield Washer Fluid
Cheap, quick, and easy to forget — running dry mid-drive on a dusty road is a visibility hazard you can avoid in thirty seconds.
4. Check Engine Oil Level
Pop the hood, pull the dipstick, wipe and re-check. Running low between scheduled changes stresses your engine unnecessarily — top up if needed and keep an eye on how fast it's dropping.
5. Replace Wiper Blades
Streaking, skipping or squeaking blades are a sign they're due. Swapping them is usually a five-minute job and dramatically improves visibility in Karachi's monsoon downpours.
6. Test Your Lights
Walk around the car with the headlights, brake lights, indicators and reverse lights on (a friend or reflective wall helps). A blown bulb is easy to miss until you actually need it.
7. Clean Your Battery Terminals
A build-up of white or greenish corrosion on the terminals can cause starting problems. Disconnect the battery, clean the terminals with a wire brush, and reconnect — or bring it in and we'll do it as part of any service visit.
These small habits add up. And for everything beyond DIY reach — brakes, suspension, electrical faults, engine work — that's exactly what our certified technicians are here for.
