Your car relies on more filters than most drivers realise — and each one plays a distinct role in keeping the engine, cabin and fuel system running cleanly. Here's a rundown of the five that matter most.
Engine Air Filter
Keeps dust, dirt and debris out of the engine's combustion chambers. A clogged air filter restricts airflow, reducing power and fuel efficiency — typically replaced every 15,000–20,000 km, sooner in dusty conditions.
Oil Filter
Filters contaminants out of your engine oil, protecting internal components from wear. It should be replaced every time you change your engine oil — using an old filter with fresh oil defeats the purpose entirely.
Cabin Air Filter
Cleans the air that enters your car's ventilation and AC system, trapping dust, pollen and pollutants before they reach you. A clogged one restricts airflow and can produce unpleasant odours.
Fuel Filter
Removes dirt and rust particles from fuel before it reaches the engine, protecting injectors and the fuel pump from damage. A clogged fuel filter can cause hesitation, stalling or difficulty starting.
Transmission Filter
Found in most automatic transmissions, this filter keeps the transmission fluid clean, protecting delicate internal components from debris. It's serviced far less often than the others, but neglecting it can shorten your transmission's life significantly.
Filter maintenance is a small, inexpensive habit that prevents expensive repairs down the line. It's part of every service package at CAREGAR — from our Bronze package upward — so you're never guessing what's due next.
